USATF Midwest Region Newsletter

Dear Midwest Region Association Officers and Sport Chairs:
What are sanctions ramifications for cancelling or postponing events with-in association:
Answer from Tyler Nelson: If you believe that the events can be rescheduled, we can simply postpone the sanctions. In this scenario, the rescheduled event needs to be exactly the same as the initial event (same location, same distances, etc.). If you will be rescheduling your events, please just let me know of your new date, and I can edit your calendar listing and certificates.
If you will be cancelling your events entirely, you can receive a full refund.  Please follow the link below, and use your Event ID and password to log in.  From there, you can choose to cancel your sanction, and receive the refund.
What Autonomy does each association have to hold events/practices:
Answer from N. O.: Each association, club coach and local organizer should consult their local health authorities for guidance.
Question on sanctions:
Handling of postponed events which did not notify USATF prior to the original date due to forced postponement and may not have an immediate new date?
Rationale:  Given the uncertainly events have been holding back for the past few weeks on submitting sanction, not wanting to front money for events that may not be allowed to be held.
Question regarding Volunteer Leadership Reimbursements:
How will outstanding reimbursements be handled during this time with no personnel in office? The national office is working a regular schedule from remote sites as mandated by the Indiana governor’s office.  The finance department is working in the office as needed to make reimbursements and handle other financial matters as needed.
Question regarding membership fee reimbursement:  Will USTAF issue refunds or extend membership for a year if youth meets and Junior Olympic program are cancelled for 2020?
It is too soon to answer this question, but it is certainly something that the office will look at later.
If coronavirus extends into Fall 2020 will the N. O. give prompt attention to: A: holding or postponing the annual December Annual Meeting:
It is too early to answer this question.
If coronavirus extends into Fall 2020 will the N. O. give prompt attention to: B: Reducing or removing the association delegate requirement?
Accreditation is based on the previous year 2019.  Disruption to this year (2020) will be taken into account when the accreditation subcommittee meets in August.
